Am i losimg my rights to go to college??

It all started when i got into my 10th std......everyone said that i only had to work hard for a year and pass my 10th boards with ...u know...really good marks..'coz 11th and 12th won't be "that tough".to everyone's relief i passed 10th with 90%.then came 11th...which turned out to be unexpectedly tough again..and everyone said..."work hard this year....12th can't be tough..'coz u'll have your boards then....boards can't be tough..everyone will fail then!!moreover, you study in a cbse school..so your first two years in engineering will be a cakewalk...".so i decided to listen to them....'coz they talk out of "experience" u know....finally i have also passed my 12th with an aggregate of 88% ...but only to realise the storms haven't passed over as yet!!
like most other iit aspirants,i too had undergone coaching for iit-jee during my 11th n 12th...so naturally,i applied for and wrote a whole lot of exams thinking tat i will be assured of a seat atleast in 1 or 2 places.well....thanks to the competition which is increasing everyyear.....none of them proved to be very useful.i'm not complaining about tat now....i should have done better.
then i applied for admission into a few colleges who give you admission based on your 12th std marks.......this is where the problem hit me on the face like a rotten tomato!!.....
one of the colleges which claimed to give admission "purely based on merit" and accepted application from cbse and state board students gave out the list wihout proper normalization.....
so...the state board students can afford to lose 200 marks in their total and still have an aggregate of 90%..but cbse students lose just 50 marks and still get the same 90%....and i have been put on the waiting list because of my 88% although a friend of mine from state board who has performed worse than me goes for counselling on the second day itself!!
if this is wat happens in "purely based on merit" admissions...there are a few colleges....who like to cash in on our situation.....whether you are meritorious or not.....who cares??......pay 5 lacs n u're in......the seats sell like hot cakes!!
but wat abt students like me whose parents are either not prepared or are not willing to pay tat kind of money 4 an engineering seat??....well.. the colleges have only one thing 2 say..."GO TO HELL!!we can sell our seats and still have a demand which is greater than the supply"...
it gets even more tough for people like me who belong to the FC(forward class).....cut offs get higher and admissions get tougher!!
according to the normalization done using the formula provided by one of the local colleges here....my physics-chemistry-maths(pcm) avg comes to 187 on 200.....since it had been a long time since i had applied...i thought i'll go and check out wat happened to the merit list.....i go into the office and show him a xerox copy of my form...he opens the form and looks at my pcm...he then looks up at me and asks "which community?"..so i say.."hindu...iyer"..he's like "FC??the cut off for FC candidates is 195 " and rudely dumps the form back into my hands and walks off!!
well..if you don't want to give me a seat..tat's fine..but atleast try not to be so rude!!
it's so frustrating to know that although u're just as good as another person if not better....u don't stand as good a chance as tat person to get into a good college just b'coz u don't belong to the same community as his!!well..talk about social discrimination!!
...however long my blog on this issue might be...at the end of the day...all that i'm worried abt is .....IS ANYBODY LISTENING????....if u r and if u can make a difference..then here goes.....SOS!!......SOS!!....SOS!!.........SOS!!
